Encore Health Resources Names Joe Boyd Its New Chairman
Ivo Nelson to maintain active role on Encore’s Board of Directors
HOUSTON – Encore Health Resources, a leading provider of advanced healthcare information technology (HIT) consulting services, announced today that it has named Joe Boyd as its new Chairman. In this position, he succeeds Ivo Nelson, who will retain a strategic role with the company as a member of its Board of Directors. For the past 18 months, Boyd has actively engaged with Encore in a senior advisory capacity.

Boyd joins Encore with nearly 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry and in information technology. He began his IT career with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in the State and Local Government Healthcare Group. After leaving EDS, he worked in the healthcare practices of KPMG Peat Marwick and GTE before joining Perot Systems in 1990.
At Perot Systems, Joe progressed through a variety of positions and was named Vice President and General Manager for the Healthcare Industry practice in 1994, soon growing the Healthcare business from $22M to more than $100M in annual revenues. In 1997, Boyd was promoted to Executive Vice President and General Manager for Perot Systems North American sales and operations, directing over 4,000 employees in a $600M business that included seven industry verticals. After retiring from Perot Systems in 2001 he has maintained an active profile in the industry, providing management consulting and executive coaching services through his own firm, Boyd Consulting.

Boyd has worked closely with both Sellers and Nelson in other successful ventures. From 2003 until it was sold to IBM in 2005, he served as Chairman of Healthlink, where Sellers was president and chief operating officer and Nelson was CEO. Before its acquisition, Healthlink had grown to become the largest privately held specialized HIT consulting services company in the nation. Today, Boyd serves as a director at OnFocus|Healthcare, MediSend International and is the current Chairman of MedSynergies Inc. – a fast-growing Physician Alignment and RCM company based in Irving, TX. Boyd holds a B.A. in History and an M.B.A. from Mississippi State University.
